Buying this was the WORST idea I ever had. No, strike that. Using this was the worst idea I ever had. This product is supposed to cause your skin to burn so that your brain is tricked into thinking that the pain is at the skin and not at the joint/muscle. Well, it works . . . the problem is, it burns so badly that you feel like you are on fire . . . and there’s no way to make it stop. I put it on my thumb after having hand surgery to repair a ligament tear and I also used it on my ankle (I’ve had several sprains). OMG, my foot was ON FIRE all night. I slept about 2 hours. I did some research to see how I could stop the burning and found out that, apparently, 1 part bleach to 5 parts water turns the oil into salts that can be washed off. Negative. I am dying. I’ll stick to Aspercreme.

I just burnt the chit out of my wrist today. Rx said to apply a small amount…I hurt a VERY LARGE AMOUNT, so I applied “liberally” to my wrist as if this cream wasn’t capsacin…burned the skin. I thought for a while that maybe the burn would distract me from the pain, but that is NOT how it should feel, not to that intensity! I am going to attempt this again tomorrow, in small amount. I might be one of those with thin skin though. I it powerful no doubt.

I like pepper products for my arthritis and so I had really high hopes for using this.
It worked for me and after I took a shower in the morning after applying it I could still feel a bit of heat but the hour following the initial application I itched. I’ll finish out the tube but I won’t be buying again.
Also, even though I washed my hands after application it seemed like a bit stayed on my hands and transferred when I touched skin.
I really prefer SALONPAS Hot Capsicum Patch – 10 PAK – SAVE $$$ !, it gets hotter, and the patches go on easily. I’ll keep looking for a good pepper cream, this wasn’t it.

Before reading the reviews here, I tried a menthol product for arthritis which stunk up the house but didn’t do any good. After reading the reviews, I purchased some very hot cayenne pepper from the natural foods store and mixed it with a non-stink cream that seems to work fine. The cayenne was already fine, but I used a mortar and pestle and a very little water to refine it. Then I mixed it with the creme and stored the result in little cups with tops. Now I just rub it on like the stuff in the tubes, but it costs only pennies.
Anybody try this?
