Chronic Headaches – Improving the Quality of Life As a Sufferer of Chronic Headache

All people experience headache attacks from time to time. However, most types of headache are only mild and only last for a few hours. With rest and taking a break from stressful activity along with taking over the counter pain medications, most people will be able to effectively manage these types of headaches.

However, if you experience headaches that last for 15 days to a month with only minimal relief, then you may be suffering from a condition called chronic headaches. Sufferers of this type of headache will experience frequent attacks of head that go as long as one month or even more.

Over the counter pain medications won't help much with chronic headaches. Basically, medical researchers still don't know what causes chronic headaches. However, they found that this condition is closely linked to severe stress and also not getting enough nutrients in the body because of poor eating habits. In fact, further studies have found that some medicines that is aimed to treat this kind of headache can also cause it to attack.

Other common causes of chronic headaches may be allergy and hay fever related, vision related headaches and other causes.

The best way to avoid chronic headache is to have a well-balanced diet and also enough rest. This will not only improve your overall health, but it will also minimize the chance of you getting chronic headaches.

However, in case you are already suffering from headaches for more than 2 days now, you may want to consult your doctor about it. They may not be able to tell you that it is a chronic headache, but they will be able to provide you with the necessary treatments and medications in order for you to deal with your headache problem. A visit to the eye doctor may also help in ruling out that your vision is not causing the headaches.
