I cried on the way home it was emotional for me to know just how bad my standard of sleep was in comparison. I can’t wait to get my machine.

I’m 23 years old and I had a sleep study done and found out that in the 3 hour and half hours of sleep i got in the first test I had 367 sleep disturbances vast majority apneas and lesser hypopnea. after informing my family of the test results I found out the my grandfather who past away about 5 years ago now was listed as Complications due to sleep apnea. I was scared to death. I wwent back for the cpap fitting and slept better than i have in atleast 3 years.

Good luck with your test. Getting the cpap machine has completely changed (perhaps saved) my life.

Phil, I am scheduled to go have my sleep study done in less than a week. I came across this video series and I’m so glad I did. Knowing what’s ahead for me makes it that much less stressful. No suprizes thanks to you. My anxiety has gone down tremendously about the whole thing. Keep it up!

Thank you Phil for such an informative video. My daughter had sleep apnea when she was 3! I sometimes couldnt sleep at night listening to her Stop breathing and then gasping for air while she was sleeping. It is a very scary thing! Hers was dur to extremely large adnoids and tonsils. I know with this video that you made WILL help alot of people or at least make them think about getting themselves checked. God Bless and take care.

fantastic video. I’ve been trying to determine if I have sleep apnea. I tried video taping myself at night to see – however can’t get more that an hour and a half on video and I don’t see any apnea events so that is encouraging. I noticed that you started getting the events sleep. Did I get that right? I only ask because I am trying to see if I need to record longer periods of time at night.

Once again, great series!

Making the videos helped me to get through it. The YT community has been very supportive.

I’m stuck on the 30 secs. of apnea you were having. I think about trying to not breath for 30 seconds at a time and multiplying that, and throwing in the heartbeat of 0…eye-opening. So glad you explained the graphics too. this has been so interesting, Phil. I know this has to help someone.

Tony, it makes a huge difference. I have energy, feel better and don’t fall asleep at my desk anymore. I can watch movies, read, listen to music, which I couldn’t do before without falling asleep. And I can tell that my baseline health is improving. I put if off until my heart was stopping. It could have been too late.

YIKES PHIL!!! 129?? AMAZING. I fear going to find out myself because I KNOW it’s up there someplace as well. I should go – but I’m not sure I want to know. Though NOT knowing could be fatal. I HOPE the CPAP machine works for you. I have two friends here at work on the machines and they swear by them. YOU DO lose LIFE and TIME not sleeping well because it puts the strain on your heart and system so it’s a reality we all should be aware of and do something about. ME INCLUDED. GREAT information

I made a comment earlier and it didn’t seem to take. What I said was… You and your colleagues are doing great work. You make peoples lives a lot better and surely you save a few along the way. If I had continued on, I think I would have died from it. Thank you.

FantasticBabblings July 28, 2009 at 2:13 am

That’s great. Keep me posted on how you are doing.

Phill I am going to be that one to get help because of your videos. I made a Dr appt today to get my sleep lab test set up. I just have not wanted to face it but all I want to do is sleep and I am so tired even when I wake up. Your videos have help me to realize that I need to get help. Thank you so much!

FantasticBabblings July 30, 2009 at 10:43 am

I am feeling much more rested. Almost human again.

FantasticBabblings July 31, 2009 at 5:25 pm

One week plus and all is still good.

ButterRivaLs August 1, 2009 at 6:22 am

Am I wrong in thinking you are already looking more rested? : )

PS It *is* hard for some people to seek medical help when they should. I think your sleep apnea series will help some others get moving toward improving their own health–sooner rather than later.

I work in a sleep lab and I’m enthralled by your videos! You have such an excellent grasp of the meaning of your results. Amazing. Since you weren’t sure: MA is Mixed Apnea and CH would be Central Hypopnea. Mixed apnea is where the pause in breathing begins as central (no effort to breathe seen in chest or abdomen belts & no airflow) and changes to obstructive (effort in belts, but no airflow) part way through. Obstructive issues are generally more common than central or mixed.

There ya’ go. My biPap has changed my life. Congratulations.

FantasticBabblings August 8, 2009 at 3:33 am

Thanks for your support. I have been given a real opportunity here. I hope I use it well.

FantasticBabblings August 8, 2009 at 8:17 pm

I am coming back to life.

FantasticBabblings August 10, 2009 at 8:14 pm

I don’t know how I got along without it. He may have had the wrong type of machine or mask or it wasn’t adjusted properly. He should stick with it. It can save his life.

FantasticBabblings August 13, 2009 at 7:02 am

The difference is amazing. Now I need to lose weight and get a face lift… :)

FantasticBabblings August 15, 2009 at 8:52 am

I have become pretty good at objectifying my health issues. I have no “white coat” syndrome, but sometimes fear is a good motivator.

FantasticBabblings August 16, 2009 at 9:50 am

Soon I will have no excuses!
